Wound on cats leg

My barn cat came home after almost a weeks absence with a pretty bad wound on her leg. It goes all around and the skin on her back pad has also come off. Dad says it looks like a snare or leg hold trap. Both are forbidden on the farm, but sometimes the workers ignore that and do it anyway. Can the farmers, hunters and others please tell me if you agree?

Its not clearly visible on the photo.
It was taken to close. However if there is a definate line arround it would suggest a snare.

Its important to walk your farm en pay attention to the smaler game trails thats not very active. Farm workers will always set traps and snares regardless of your rules.
