Help needed to adjust trigger on Sauer mod 90

Post by Spanner »

Guys, I need some help on trigger adjustment of a Sauer mod 90 in .30-06.
I bought the gun second-hand and before I could take delivery thereof I suffered an accident which resulted in the partial amputation of the first one and a half sections of my index and middle finger.  This means I am now unable to effectively operate the trigger in the normal manner.
In the normal trigger setting I can just reach it ? but the trigger is set too heavy for me to shoot the gun accurately.  If I engage the hair set trigger by pushing the trigger forward, it is out of reach of what is left of my trigger finger.  How can I adjust the normal trigger to break lighter ?  There is a screw at the base of the trigger which, according to the manual, only adjusts the hair set trigger, but NOT the normal trigger pull.  I don?t want to start to fiddle with it myself in the hope of getting it right, and the gunsmith in my area doesn?t know anything about Sauers either ? but is prepared to ?give it a go? !  Can the normal trigger be made lighter somehow, or does it need specialist skills from a competent smith ? Can anyone recommend such a competent smith in the Higheld area of Ermelo/Secunda/Boksburg ?

No, the agents - Formalito- doesn't have a clue either, and simply suggested I "take the gun to a competent 'smith" !  Great help, thank guys !  I did however speak to a guy who said that the adustment screw behind the trigger will only adjust the hair-set trigger, and not the pull on the normal trigger.  I am still to find and take the gun to a "competent 'smith" as the two guys I contacted didn't instill much confidence in me as they basically both said " well, bring the gun in and I will try to make a plan and see what I can do ...."

I am not going to have someone "try to make a plan " when it comes to trigger adjustments.  Either they do know exactly, or they don't.

Spanner,

Try JJ Wapens or Ralph Bedenhorst Gunsmith in Ermelo. The two of them will be your best bet.
