MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
My belangstelling het effe afgeneem sedert ek hulle so jaar terug ontvang het.

Kudu cow, blesbok or fallow deer would be good places to start.
Didn't know there was Trad archery interest in Qtn, I used to shoot a lot but time was an issue. Nice groupings you've got going there.

Re: MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
Thanks Ranger.
As a kid I had a Red Bear (I think that was the name) fiber glass bow.
The bow was traded from a friend for an old I think Model 17 Gecado air rifle.
I tell you the arrows flew faster than any pellet out of that old Pellet gun.
That bow was my constant companion and the dowel arrows with plastic fletches from the local co-op did not fly too straight.
However i did a lot of string time on that thing. I think that kind of gave me some feel for the game.
When I got these bows it just felt as though i had my little red bear back in my hands. It all came kind of natural

Ek plaas hierdie jag sommer by julle boogjag item.

Re: MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
Mooi dag, lekker stok skiet!

Brass inserts are usually available in 50 and 100 grains. I always used 100 grain inserts even on my compound. A high FOC is the way to go for hunting arrows IMHO.DiscoBiscuit wrote:Hulle sal great werk, lyk ook meer tradisioneelAs hulle nie swaar genoeg is nie, kan jy altyd brass inserts gebruik.

Re: MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
Hi Disco
Hierdie het ek by Bushman archery in Grahamstown gekoop in vroeg 2016.
Vriendelikke mense.

Yes the head is 125 Grain not 100 as Ive stated above and the alu insert is 50 grain. If i remember correctly the total on mine is 175 Grain.
A high FOC is the way to go for hunting arrows indeed.

Re: MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
Air Hunter, animals are on high alert at the water. That is often where predators ambush them. The same animal that you find grazing/browsing somewhere else in the bush will be less "on edge" than one at the water. For that reason, I don't think you should discount warthogs. I find them easier to hunt on walk & stalk than most other animals. Their eyesight is not that good plus when their heads are down while rooting or grazing they see even less. You can get really close to warthogs. I'm not saying you should focus on warthogs. Just saying that the animals you find in the bush will be less on edge than those at the water so any species could be on your list. String-jump is less of a factor in my opinion. If the animal looks nervous or if it might be aware of you then pass up the shot. Given the limited opportunities the walk & stalk hunter may get, if there is a clear shot within your competent range, and the animal is relaxed, and it's within the budget, then taking what nature offers you is not a bad way to approach it.

Re: MY TWEE TRADISIONELE BOE
Thank you Dimitri.
I will never shoot any animal over water.
I have no problem with others doing so. I just wont.
I tend to see your point and without any experience would agree.
I have seen a few W&S videos on pigs away from water and I can see from those that you are likely right.
Some are even shot on their sleep
