Twee Scopes - .260Rem & .375Ruger
Savage Model 12 VLP .260Rem
26" barrel
Will be used for hunting - 200m to 300m, oope vlaktes, voorsit, bakkie jag in Namibia
Ruger Guide Gun .375Ruger
20" barrel
Will be used for hunting, walk and stalk, lets say 50m to 200m type hunting.
Budget vir al twee scopes is so omtrent R50k.
I know it is like asking what bakkie you like, this a very subjective question and is based on your opinion. I am trying to narrow down all my options so that I know what to look for and where to look, what shops etc.
Planning a weeks trip to Jhb / PTA to buy scopes, reloading gear, suppressors etc etc.
All input appreciated. Gooi.

If it was me I would be looking at.
1. Swarovski
2. Kahles
3. Meopta
4. Burris
But that is just me...

Vir R56,000 kan ek jou help met 'n MARCH 3-24×52FFP illuminated FML-T1 vir die .260 en 'n Leupold VXR Patrol 1.25-4 Ballistic Fire Dot vir die Guide Gun....
Goed, beter, 6millimeter!

Skiet die 375R oop versier of gee hom vir jou laaitie en koop n March by Geno vir daai 260, jy gaan nie weer so prys op daai 3-24FFP sien nie

Moet nou nie so wees nie. Gooi daai 1-10 March by vir daai prys man! Sal n moerse nice kombinasie wees.

So, indien jy 'n PH is of iemand wat beslis nooit jou .375 verder as 100m gaan gebruik nie sou ek sê 'n lae-vergroting scope is goed.

Sightron S3, 6-24x50 MOA, FFP
R 18 500
Sightron S3, 3.5-10x44 MOA
R 15 500

Re: Twee Scopes - .260Rem & .375Ruger
Baie dankie vir al die informasie.
I am speaking to Geno on the March. Also looking at Nightforce, Leupold etc.
Deffo think I am going to go with a FFP scope for the .260
I take 100% what Wouter en Koos have to say and I am in agreement with them.
The .375 was bought for close up shooting, but the more homework I do on the weapon, the more I realize its great potential.
Another sukkel is choosing the right bullets and combination of bullets for each rifle. For the .375, I will need a .250gr, a 270gr in expanding and a 300gr in expanding and solid.
I want to practice with the bullets I will hunt with, as my practice is for hunting and not target shooting. Will ask the 6.5mm and the .375 guys what they have found best. This way I can maximise my scopes potential by setting up for the same type of shooting all the time.
Cheers.

Re: Twee Scopes - .260Rem & .375Ruger

Re: Twee Scopes - .260Rem & .375Ruger
Good day to all.
Been a long trip, out the country for months on end, finally coming home this week and need to make final decision on these scopes.
I have a Nightforce NXS 5.5 22x50 MOAR1/4 on hold at a dealer. Scope is R28k. Dealer is adamant that this is a good deal and a good scope for a .260Rem.
I have told dealer to up the budget on the .260Rem scope to R50k, what would he recommend. He has come back with a good deal on a Nightforce AtaccR.
What would you guys recommend in a top quality scope for the .260Rem if I said new budget is about R50k for this scope?
On the .375 Guide Gun, I am looking at the Leupold. A lot of advice is to not underestimate this rifle and realise it has great potential as a long distance shooter as well as a bush type close up rifle.
I had planned to use it up to 100m or so close bush work, but all advice says I will then underscope and will have to buy a second scope at some stage.
Lets say budget of R50k on .260Rem and budget of R30k on .375Ruger.
At these prices the March scopes are back in play, Kahles, Swarovski etc.
What would you recommend now with the higher budgets.
Thanks guys, learn so much on here.
Tjorts.

For R80k I can provide you with the following March scopes:
2.5-25×42 for the .375

Re: Twee Scopes - .260Rem & .375Ruger
No matter what I wouldd put a FFP scope on the 260.
I am really enjoying my Kahles and Razor at he moment, but if I would have to buy again it would probably be a ATACR as it seems solid and would like to test drive one.
I have no experience on March, but have heard good things.
If it was me and I could pick any two scopes, budget excluded it would be.
S&B PMII 3-27x56 for the 260 and for the 375 i would top it with a new swaro Z8 in 2-16.

Well if I where you I will look at something with a x32 for that 260, the nightforce will be good but that only because I have not used a march, the 375 I will consider swarofski z3 4_12 or the 3_9*40 the picture clarity of a swarofski is excellent.
