Wilson Combat 45ACP
Ek was nog altyd n groot 45 ACP fan...
Maar Wilson Combat maak nie mooi met die fotos nie...
http://wilsoncombat.com/jgallery2/gallery.asp
Hoe verwag hulle ek moet na die fotos kyk en nie my Colt dan nie bietjie liefde wil gee met n upgrade hier en daar nie...
Mooi was wraggies nog nooit lelik nie...

They're very nice . You certainly will never regret owning one and the Rand is a bit stronger than its been in a while.

You ever shot a Wilson? Or perhaps have any reviews that substantiate your opinion?Piet-Skiet wrote: ,volgens my beter as die wilson combat.
I really wonder what you based that comment on.

Piet ,on what did you base your opinion that a Kimber is better than a Wilson?

Re: Wilson Combat 45ACP
The Wilson I own and the couple of others I?ve seen, are brilliantly finished with no tooling marks. (You mentioned earlier "What it looks like, how it feels in my hand, balance, tool marks")
There are a couple of differences between the two makes and here is why I disagree with your opinion.
*The Kimber uses MIM parts which are inferior to the forged parts that Wilson uses.( Frame and slide)
*The Kimber is a mass produced gun, while the Wilson is hand finished and fitted at each step by skilled professionals.
*Wilson guarantees their accuracy and each pistol is shipped with a signed target showing this. I have mine somewhere, just can?t remember how may rounds they fire.
*Wilsons guns are more reliable "out of the box" because of the above point.
*Wilson offers a lifetime guarantee
*Kimbers service from what is posted on the forums is average while Wilsons seems to be excellent
*There are many threads on the US forums of people complaining about the Kimber quality, I?ve seen only one with regards to Wilson ,which related to the ADP. A gun that they have discontinued and which wasn?t a 1911 anyway.
I?m not implying that Kimber is a bad gun, its probably quite good ( I haven?t owned one though) its rather just that, I don?t think you were able to justify your statement "het vir hom I kimber gekoop, volgens my beter as die wilson combat" with the points you raised.
I also don?t think price really comes into "better" and when you say "Wilson is grossly overcharged for a semi custom 1911" what are you bench marking that against ?
Thanks Frank

Christiaan they are available, of course the price varies between models. The CQB currently go between 20 and 30 thousand.
I was testing a few guns with my friend last weekend who is the agent for Wilson. He is also a personal friend of Bill Wilson and has been to the factory a number of times, the last time been January this year.
He was a bit concerned when I told him about tooling marks and a not so good finish on the Wilson you saw Piet .
Although very sceptical , if this is in fact the case, they would like to make it right.
Piet please let me know whose gun was it, so that I can pass on the info.
Regards Frank

Hmmm, baie nice Competition Gun, geen waarde operationeel nie , ken nie operateurs wat fans is nie- verkies H&K USP of USP Compact of nuwe HK45 - check die link -
http://www.squidoo.com/top-10-45-pistols-to-own
Wilson feature nie onder die Top 10 Operationele opsies nie - maar dis ook maar opinie.
Het self 'n USP .45 , werk vir my.

38 Super is n great kaliber.
