Good day gents

We are a few friends reloading for 223 rem AR/lM platforms on a Dillon XL650 , 55gr fmj and sp mainly. some are using mixed headstamp brass and obviously case volume and length will be different. It can become quite a task to check thousands of cases all the time so the guys loading for anti poaching would like one load for all his guns (60+) and should he crimp or not seeing that case lengths might differ or does he have to trim and crimp?

Krimp is probably a good idea in this scenario. He must use Lee Factory crimp dies. They are very effective and different case lenghts does not affect their function.

Thanks Hercules I will replace the Dillon crimp die with a lee crimp die.

Agree. Just take a look at the propper setup for these dies. Too much crimp is no good...

Trimming is important to keep the case length within max specs. If he cases are allowed to stretch too much, dangerous pressures can result.

I agree with the Lee Factory Crimp die. Also, make sure you crimp the case mouth in a cannelure. Bullets without cannelures should not be crimped, especially the CMJ bullets like Frontier.

Get them as close to saami specs as possible. Simply because they should be able to fit the most firearms.

Since they will probably be maltreated, setback of bullets should be avoided. Crimp them a little.

I checked about 20 cases last night and all measured 1.752" to 1.768" i will full length size again and re-check.
