I have Googled the caliber and there seems to be quite a lot of reporting on it.

Not sure what you have heard . All I can say is the rifle and calibre are good and I feel fortunate that it's mine.

Yes the 284 win is great. I have already had two barrels chambered in the 284 shehane one 26 inch standard Palma contour for a single shot vr bat with integral pic rail and a heavy varmint krieger finished at 32 inches for my bat b action also integral pic rail. Chose this calibre cause they say it does the same as the straight 284 win with less pressure. Both these actions will also have 6.5 x 47L and 22250 barrels.
