Dankie man!

I watched a mate shoot Universal trench for the first time this weekend. Shot 18/25 twice. With a 22" Mossberg 930 JM Pro.

Did you eventually choose a shotgun?

Hi Ranger

Well, I haven't bought one yet. Had to buy some pistols for me and the wife and everything that goes with it. Still not 100% sure if I need dedicated hunter's status or dedicated sportman status. Info about this is very confusing.

I will say this. My heart it set on a Benelli M2. What a gun!! But it's a lot of money. Shopping around I found some better prices but still at least R4k more than a Mossberg. And the Franchi Affinity also caught my attention. I want something with a 26"-28" barrel.

From CTSASA rules:

SHOTGUNS
A shotgun (in Law) is defined as a smooth bored gun
with a barrel length in excess of 24”. The shotgun
generally is a weapon designed specifically for killing.
Shotguns used for breaking clay targets have this
same capability and therefore must be treated with
the same care, caution and respect. A shotgun for
clay target shooting must have a barrel length of 26”
or more. Maximum bore is 12 gauge.

Dan MOET jy na 'n Fabarm L4S gaan kyk.

Cool, didn't know about CTSASA's rule. The point I'm trying to make is for a social shooter, barrel length is not the most important aspect so for someone looking for a semi-auto to use for a bit of this and a bit of that, a 22 or 24" barrel is not necessarily a bad choice.

If you're not going to be taking part in CTSASA sanctioned matches, most clubs will let you shoot with anything that is classified as a "shotgun". I've been shooting clays at False Bay, Durbanville and Kraaifontein with a 20" pump action with a pistol grip stock and while you get the occasional odd look from old people, they've never told me I can't use it. Just put a slightly tighter choke than normal on it and you'll be fine. And try to score better than some people with O/U's so they can't say anything.

Nicolas Yale is die invoerder, jy kan die geweer by hulle besigtig maar jou plaaslike handelaar sal vir jou moet prys kry. Nicolas Yale is slegs groothandelaar.
