Bokke is baie duurder as koeels.

The Quest bullet used was not recommended for kudu sized animals. And yet it was used on kudu. I think the bullet performed well enough considering the thickness of the bull's skull. It was a one-shot kill.
I agree with Sako. It was not the right bullet to use on kudu in the first place. One could argue that it is fine if shots are restricted to headshots and shots behind the shoulder. And yes, shot placement is "vital". But if you have never wounded or fired a bad shot in the field then you probably have not hunted that much. It will happen sooner or later. An animal may turn it's head and you shoot it's jaw off. Then you need a reliable bullet that can be angled into the vitals. If you pull your shot aimed behind the shoulder and your bullet hits the big shoulder bone then you need a bullet reliable enough to break the bone and reach the vitals. For me, the Quest bullet in question does not fit the bill.
It performed well enough in that particular situation where things went exactly according to plan. But I would suggest a better quality bullet for taking on kudu bulls.
I can think of a number of situations where I needed to take angled shots on big animals like kudu and wildebeest. I used a 180gr Swift A-frame out of my 30-06 and all of those I am thinking of were one-shot kills.
It would be unfair to blame the bullet for failing to reach the vitals if I had used the .71mm Quest [edited for clarity] in those situations. They were not designed for that.

Yep. Got it vriell. That is why I started my post with "The Quest bullet used was not recommended ....."
In my post I was referring specifically to the particular Quest bullet used and not to Quest bullets in general. Perhaps I should have been clearer.
