“He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.”
~ 1 Peter 3:10 -

Do you know that the Bible connects seeing good days with what we say?

Just look at today’s Scripture: “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil.” Isn’t it encouraging that the Lord wants you to love life and see good days? And He draws your attention to the words you speak.

Beloved, He has given you His promises so you have words of hope to speak over your family, your needs, and your future. When you’re concerned about not having enough, you can say, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Ps. 23:1). When you think about what lies ahead, you can declare, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life” (Ps. 23:6). As you speak, let your heart receive what those words mean for you.

At this point, you may be thinking, “Pastor Prince, I want to believe that, but how can I speak about good days when things aren’t going well now?”

I understand that it can be difficult to expect good when you’ve been disappointed. But your confidence in the Lord’s goodness has a foundation that none of your circumstances can ever change: His love for you, demonstrated by His finished work at the cross.

Friend, Jesus loved you so much that He bore your sins and your judgment so you could receive the blessings of being righteous in Him. What you are facing today has not changed His heart toward you. You are still deeply loved, and you can trust Him to care for you.

That is why you can speak His promises even while you are waiting to see a change. You may not yet know how the provision will come or how the situation will be resolved, but you know the heart of the One you are trusting.

So keep His Words on your lips, and let your heart grow expectant of the good days your loving Savior wants you to enjoy.
Amen.
