Weatherby Vanguard S2 300WSM

I've been looking for a 300WSM for a while now with the intention of using it for a long range gong/paper/hunting rifle. I have found a Weatherby Vanguard S2 which I've committed to taking IF the action will fit Howa inletted stock/chassis. From what I've ready they should be the same with some saying they're only "similar" not 100% the same. Can anyone with experience comment? It's the thin barreled version but I'm going to get all in order straight away to change barrels to something longer and heavier. Just wanted someone with firsthand experience to say yay or nay re the Howa footprint.

27 Feb 2019 — They are both made by Howa. Almost the same rifle. Weatherby has a different bolt and usually has a longer barrel.
