Appointment to hand in firearm licence application

I went to my local DFO yesterday to collect my competency certificate to own a handgun.
I obviously would like to hand in the licence application asap, but I was told I could only get an appointment to do so in 2 months from now.
Is this the status quo all over now?
What do you members find in your area?

The amnesty saga is a priority

Your fellow gun owner that needs amnestie to stay out of jail, is unfortunately now causing a bottleneck in an already, very very poor administrative application of our CFR
Cheers

Dit is redelik normaal in großer dorpe/stede.

Thanks for the input Gents.
I agree with Tripod - more processes can surely be done on line when applying for licences?
Especially when the office only makes appointments up to 12h00 daily.
