Jag Bookings (Fraud)

Post by LeonS »

Die brief vanaf NSA ontvang. Wees maar versigtig voor jul by enige iemand book

Dear member,

We warn members against a possible fraudulent hunting opportunity advertised by one Wickus van Staden on Facebook under the name of Morgenzon Hunting Safaries (sic).

It is alleged that van Staden has mislead 4 hunters who would have hunted with him from 7 to 10 April 2016 in the Limpopo Province.

Van Staden allegedly took a deposit of R4,800 and on the day the hunters had to arrive at the hunting venue, he informed the hunters that he could not make it but would send 2 other PHs to assist with the hunt.

The hunt on which the 4 hunters were taken on, was to be conducted on a community farm for which there was no authority to hunt on (the lock on the entrance gate had to be broken by the accompanying PHs to gain entrance to the farm). This lead to the 4 hunters being accosted by the community and a nature conservation officer for trespassing and illegal hunting on the community farm (ranch).

The 4 hunters narrowly escaped arrest and confiscation of their firearms and vehicles by paying the community members a further R1,500 in the presence of the nature conservation officer, for “using” the farm (which they had not used at all).

Van Staden denies any wrong doing and has not paid back the deposit paid by the hunters, as they had not fired one shot or used the dilapidated accommodations (advertised as 5 star), and could have been in serious trouble, had they not kept their wits in the altercation with the community members.

We advise that members rather not make any booking with Wickus van Staden and his fellow advertiser, named Henk Engelbrecht, via any Facebook add, as it is possible that you could fall into the same kind of trap.

Henk Engelbrecht unashamedly and openly states in an Email to one of the hunters in the communications before the hunt had to take place, that he has 3 trophy Giraffe bulles in a 100Ha camp if anyone wanted to hunt them for R11,000 per bull. That in itself should have been a message to the hunters to stay away from these people, as this is an "add" for canned hunting right there in the open, and in writing.

You can contact Sean Connoway (083 375 7115) for further information if you might have landed in the same trap with the same person(s) as they had.

Please ascertain that you can confirm that the people you book hunts with, or through who you book hunts, are who and what they say they are.
