Groete mede Jagters/ Hunters,
Ek is a Boer wat swak Afrikaans skryf...verskoon my ASB as ek oorslaan na Engels...
Now that I got that of my chest please allow me to introduce myself. I stay in Durban North and love rifles and hunting in general. Most of us Afrikaners don't talk enough Afrikaans in this province and I need the practice ..trust me.
I have been hunting most my life but have been active every year for the past 17 years. My battery of rifles consist of the following.
270 win Brno ZKK 600
30-06 Musgrave K98
375 Sako Fullstock 20" barrel
Zabala 12 g S/S
AND
460 WBY Custom which I would like some opinions on....Recently bought this from a PH in Limpopo that had it custom made by a gunsmith in Naboomspruit. It is built on a Remington Eddystone P14 action, Truvelo barrel and the stock is made from and indigenous wood called "Drolpeer"...it shoots like a dream and recoil is very manageable as the rifle weighs in close to 14lb. I would like to hear from you guys what you think of this combination and I will be doing my first Buff hunt this year..(Still in the planning phase)... I will attached some pics when I know how this works..here goes
460 - stock.jpg
Groete,
Bill

My Budget is vir n Bull.....I don't want to hunt a Buff in a fenced/controlled environment...rather a free ranging area in as remote area as is possible...want this once in a lifetime experience in as traditional as it can be....

Pragtige geweer, sterk aksie, madoda kaliber. As hy nie die werk kan doen op "Buff"nie sal niks nie. Sorg net dat daardie koeël reguit trek en hy moet gat oor kop.

Ek stem saam spekieries...ek stem saam
This chap used a Hornady SP 500gn interlock....solids is the better choice ...I like Norfolk bullets and will be reloading them in future....The 460 WBy is a aspired .458 and I am down loading them to 2400fps 110gr S365....at 114gr S365 getting 2500fps...not ideal still to high for my needs

Welkom, Baugust. Is buffeljag in Zimbabwe goedkoper as hier in SA, reiskostes uitgesluit?

Welcome Bill,
Lovely looking rifle 14 pounds is a bit on the heavy side and unfortunately Binga is not a good destination for buffalo anymore. There are some top outfitters in Zim that would give you a quality hunt just bear in mind that their buffalo hunt prices has gone up this year due to the government licensing fess. Rather go with a top outfit and make sure you see your trophy than going with an outfit that someone knows. Spending that amount of money and then fighting for trophies afterwards is not worth it.
