Ek het n swam probleem op my turksvye se blare, dit is wit kolletjies wat soos poeier voel en as jy dit afkrap dan is dit rooi onder. Wat is dit en wat kan n mens gebruik om dit te behandel.

Ek het by my al probeer met sunlight liquid water spuit, word beter, maar kom weer terug.
Moes my turksvye uithaal en vernietig.

Dit is nou slegte nuus, die goed is darem lekker maar soos dit klink sal ek dit maar moet uithaal. Dankie vir die raad ek het gedink daar sou n gif of iets vir die probleem wees.

Ek weet die mense het op 'n stadiun nikotien gemeng met brand spirutus daarvoor gebruik. Die spitutis verdamp en los die nikotien agter en dit smoor die gogo.

Ek het gehoor dit werk op klein skaal maar weet nie hoe jy dit grootskaal gaan regkry nie.

Cochineal is die land ingebring om die turksvye te dood wat die Ooskaap ingeneem het. Weet nie wat dit sal dood nie, maar gif vir gewone insekte kan dalk die ding doen. Weet nie wat is deesdae omgewingsvriendelik nie.

Manne my buurman boer met truksvye en hy boer organies, hy het soort swart besie in sy boorde wat die kotseniel aanval, sy boorde is skoon, hy verkoop ook baie teel materiaal en gee die mense raad hoe om die besie te bestuur, hy het ook eers chemiese iddels soos sunlight en carbaspray en phention gebruik, maar die laaste paar jaar werk die besie alleen en sy boorde is rerig skoon. Hy het ook vlemuis kaste rondo sy boorde geplaas en die vlemuise vang die motte wat eiers le wat die wurms in die plante veroorsaak. ?If you catch the problem in the very early stages with just a few white tufts, you can spray them off with water. Be sure to do a thorough job and check back every few days. Repeat as necessary.


?If the problem is more advanced, you probably will have to use chemicals. We find Malathion to be adequate. Mix to the recommended strength for ornamentals -- cactus is usually not listed on the label. Add a little liquid soap to the mix so the water/Malathion stays on the plant better. Spray thoroughly paying special attention to the places where the pads or joints come together. This process should be repeated seven days later and again fourteen days later to catch the bugs you missed AND to get the newly hatched cochineal that were protected by egg cases. You will know your treatment is successful when the white tufts turn a dingy gray and squeezing them does not produce the crimson stain.



Answer: That fuzzy growth is not a fungus, but the cotton-candy-like web of a tiny cactus-feeding bug called the cochineal. There are several eradication options:

- The most conservative approach is to spray the infested plant with a strong stream of water to remove the webs and insects. You will have to spray again if more webs appear.

- You can try a mild mixture of soap and water. Use an old brush to scrub the prickly pear pads. Wear thick gloves to protect your hands.

John Begeman, an urban horticulture agent with the University of Arizona, suggests mixing 1/4 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap in 1 gallon of water. Dawn has the best pest-killing properties, he said. Whatever brand you select, don't use the lemon-scented types because they can cause plant damage, he advised.

- Arizona Cactus Sales in Chandler recommends trying water first, but if the infestation is advanced, it recommends applying the chemical malathion. Use the ratio recommended for ornamentals and add liquid soap to the mixture to make it stick to the plant. Spray thoroughly, making sure you saturate where the pads or joints come together. Repeat the process a week later, and then two weeks after that. The white webs should turn dirty gray. Cochineal is spread by sticking to birds' feet, so you have to maintain your vigilance, the company said.

Die manne is reg, dit is Cochneal. Dit is 'n sapsuigende insek wat familie is van plantluise. As julle nie regkom met die kewers nie kan jy Clorpirifos 480 EC gebruik teen 100ml/100L water. Spuit dit met 'n rugsak spuit lekker nat. Chlorpirifos is by ko?perasies en kwekerye in kleinmaat te koop.

Juanpaul my plesier! Natuur kan homself uitsort, mens moet nie so maklik ingryp, weet dit is maklik om goggas te nuke maar ons teel al hoe beter goggas! Vra my met kool daar is niks wat ruitrug mot meer beheer, jy moet ele week ander gif spuit, so nou hang ek ligte op en skroei die bliksems! Daai gif ko weer terug na ons deur die kos!
