Kyk bq op bl 11 afdeling 11 wat hulle seg oor gemantelde koelle....Herewith the 2nd Draft of the EC Provincial Hunting Proclamation for your final perusal and correction of any typos that may still exist.
A few minor changes were effected as a result of your comments and an in-depth discussion took place at the National Department of Environmental Affairs Permit and Enforcement Planning Committee (PEPC) meeting, that DEDEAT attended, on the issue of lead toxicity. An updated statement has been included in the proclamation.
Due to a complaint about the new high-powered air-rifles we have included the definition of a weapon to clarify that hunting with an air-rifle, which is classified as a weapon in a public place is illegal. However, an air-rifle is not classified as a firearm, in terms of the FIREARMS CONTROL ACT, 2000. We undertake to discuss this matter with our legal advisor and will look into the feasibility and legal implications of changing the word firearm to weapon to stay abreast of the current times.
Please also note that the applicable farmers associations must provide AgriEC with their reports of the kudu hunted in their areas of jurisdiction by 30 September 2019, as per the conditions that these farmers associations specified. These reports will be forwarded to DEDEAT for scrutiny and assist us in making informed decisions in the compilation of the of 2020 proclamation.
Thank you to all of you who took the time to comment, we assure you that all your comments were taken into consideration and thoroughly debated.
Your assistance is sought in pointing out any further corrections and typos before 12:00 on Wednesday 21 November 2018 so that the final draft may be forwarded to the powers-that-be to take the process further to ensure we have the proclamation in good time.
